So when we built our new home I feel like I had quite the leg up on choosing quality products. One product that we use on many of our new homes is CertainTeed vinyl siding.

Now I know there are quite a few people out there moaning and groaning already about vinyl siding. However, if you choose a good quality vinyl siding I think you’ll be VERY pleased with the outcome. I’d like to think my house is a good example of that. Our new home uses two different CertainTeed siding products.

The clap board siding is CertainTeed’s Monogram 46 collection. This is a double 4″ vinyl siding that is much thicker than the industry standard and it also has a 5/8″ reveal unlike most 1/2″ reveals. The result is a vinyl clap board style siding that looks like the real deal. The other product we used (thanks to CertainTeed’s generosity) was the Cedar Impressions collection of vinyl shakes. The vinyl shakes were used to accent the gables on the house.

I’ve had so many compliments about the siding on this house. Quite a few of those were hidden compliments (people actually thought the house had real cedar siding on it). My big point here is you can get a maintenance free siding on your house in a bunch of colors and not give up the crisp architectural look of houses with traditional wood siding. So next time you’re selecting siding for a new home or a renovation I’d really suggest you give CertainTeed a close look.
