Daylight Savings Time Ends – Check Smoke Detectors

Smoke+Detector Daylight Savings Time Ends Check Smoke DetectorsNovember 2 is the official end of Daylight Savings time. The change in clocks twice a year is a great time and reminder to check the batteries in your smoke detectors.

When you turn your clock back tonight or in the morning be sure to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Even houses with hard wired detector should be checked. All hard wired detectors have battery back-up features so those batteries should be replaced.

Smoke detectors should be placed in every bedroom and at least one detector on each living level of the house. In addition it’s really important to put a detector in utility rooms, laundry rooms and rooms with the potential for fire. Heat detectors should also be placed in garages to detect a fire (smoke detectors can give false alarms due to the engine exhaust).
