Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape

By Todd Fratzel on Painting and Finishing

Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape

The folks from 3M recently sent us samples of their Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape to use on a project. We just finished painting our daughter’s new bedroom so it was the perfect project to test some of the new Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape.

Frankly I’ve never been much of a “tape” kinda guy preferring to “cut in” with a good quality brush. My lack of interest in painter’s tape had really been a function of products that didn’t work well. Older tapes always let paint bleed under the edge leaving a mess.

So 3M asked that we try their new Edge-Lock™ Technology that keeps the paint out and produces super sharp paint lines. As you can see above we used it to cover our baseboard trim and baseboard heat registers. One of the first things I noticed when using this new tape is how smooth it is. It doesn’t have that familiar texture that old masking tapes had.

As you can see above the results were really great. The Scotch-Blue™ Painter’s Tape with Edge-Lock™ Technology peeled away to reveal very crisp clean lines with absolutely NO bleeding. I was truly blown away and thankful for having a tape that works so well. Trust me when I say this stuff works really well. You should try it on your next painting project.

  1. Humph. You know, you could have reviewed this two months ago — BEFORE we painted. :) This would have been a great product. I’ll be sure to try it next time I paint.
