Show Us The Good and The Bad!!

This summer the folks at Bosch Tools are running a fun contest to highlight the good and bad from construction. They are running the Pro/Not So Pro Summer Contest to great work you see on the jobsite and some of the NOT so great work.

The cool part is you can have a chance to win some sweet Bosch Tools if you enter. Bosch will be selecting weekly winners between now and August and then two grand prize winners at the end. In addition to that we will pick a winner from entrants from our site!

The contest will run from July 16, 2012 through Aug 12, 2012.  Every week Bosch will pick two winners, a Pro and Not So Pro submission.  They’ll pick weekly winners on 7/23, 7/30, 8/6 and 8/13.  At the end of the contest a grand-prize will be awarded for both the best Pro and best Not So Pro categories from the list of weekly winners.

In addition to having their entries featured in a blog post, winners will receive great prizes!  Weekly winners will receive a 21-piece Bosch Impact Tough™ screwdriver set.  Two grand-prize winners will receive a Bosch 18V 1/2″ Right Angle Drill featuring best-in-class chuck capacity with a 1/2″ ratcheting chuck, superior motor performance with up to 40% more torque and superior ergonomics. This drill has a retail value of $229.

Lastly, when we pick a winner from our list of entrants, that person will win a Bosch PS31-2a, and Bosch Impact Tough Bits (SBID21). Great contest and really shows off some of the great work that craftsman are capable of doing as well as showing off that work that you hope you never find around your own home. Unfortunately I submitted an entry about the latter…a contractor that we hired to remodel our kitchen, turned the project into a nightmare. Although there were many things I had to choose from, my entry showed off the lousy install of the dishwasher. The plumber ran the water pipes too far off of the back wall, so when they tried to shove the dishwasher in, it stuck out 4″-5″ past the cabinets! So what was their solution? I’m sure you are thinking they must have taken a few minutes and a couple of 90 degree elbows and re-routed the pipes…..nope! They decided to take a piece of crown molding and attempt to “trim it out”. It didn’t work. Not only does it look awful, they didn’t secure it so if falls forward every time you open the door! These guys definitely fall under the category of “Not So Pro”.

I guess I wasn’t the only one who thought this was an inappropriate way to fix this problem. Joe the Pro was “speechless” when he read this and declared it one of the week 3 “Not so Pro” winners! A new Bosch PS31-2a sure would help alleviate the stress of going back and fixing this problem and doing it the right way (wink, wink)!

Was a winner of the additional prize package (Bosch PS31-2a, and Bosch Impact Tough Bits (SBID21)) ever announced?
