Safe Spring Cleanup Using Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™

After a long winter I’ve been dying to get outside and get the yard cleaned up for the Summer. One of the challenges that we face in our yard is keeping surfaces clean from mold, mildew and algae stains, especially on the north side of our home. Between our white vinyl railings, cosmogony decking, stone paver patio and all the yard furniture the Spring cleanup can be overwhelming.

House Landscaping

This year I had the pleasure of trying Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™  that made the cleanup easier, faster, and safer for our landscaping.  Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™ is tough on stains and safe to use around grass and plants. As soon as this product is sprayed on any surface it starts a fast-foaming action that helps lift dirt and grime.

Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™ is acceptable for cleaning many products including:

  • Concrete
  • Wood
  • Vinyl Siding
  • Stone
  • Patio Furniture
  • Fabrics

Scotts Outdoor Cleaner with OxiClean

I tested  Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™ on our white vinyl porch railings. These railings have always been very difficult to clean as they develop a nasty coating of mildew and algae stains. In the past I’ve tried all kinds of products included warm water with diluted bleach. In most cases those products weren’t all that affective and I had to worry about damaging our beautiful flower gardens below the deck.

Deck Rail Cleaning with Scotts Outdoor Cleaner with OxiClean

The  Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™ worked very well, in fact, it exceeded my expectations! I sprayed the  Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™ on the railings using the 32oz. Ready to Use trigger sprayer and let the solution sit for about 5 minutes. Then I lightly scrubbed the railings with a large brush that I used to scrub my camper. Then I simply sprayed the railings off using the garden hose and now they are whiter and cleaner than they’ve been since we built the house.

Not only did the railings get much cleaner than in the past cleaning attempts but it took me far less time. The huge bonus was being able to clean the railings and not worry about the flower gardens and lawn below.
